Anonymous Sudan launched a DDoS attack against Telegram after their main account was suspended. The group had previously targeted X (formerly Twitter) to support the launch of Elon Musk’s Starlink in Sudan.

2. MGM Resorts is facing ‘ongoing’ cyber incident that sent reservation and booking systems offline

MGM Resorts experienced a cybersecurity issue, causing the shutdown of its computer systems, affecting reservations and casino operations. MGM heavily relies on room revenue, which outpaces casino income in Las Vegas. The gaming and lodging sector’s critical infrastructure status highlights the risks of cyberattacks, impacting operations, data privacy, and reputation.

3. Associated Press warns that AP Stylebook data breach led to phishing attack

The Associated Press (AP) has warned of a data breach affecting 224 AP Stylebook customers. Hackers targeted an old, unused third-party-managed AP Stylebook site, stealing customer data including names, email addresses, addresses, phone numbers, User IDs, and, in some cases, tax-exempt IDs like Social Security Numbers or Employer Identification Numbers. AP learned of the breach on July 20, 2023, after customers received phishing emails prompting them to update credit card information.
