1. Currency.com hit by a failed DDoS cyber attack
The high-growth global crypto exchange firm, Currency.com, was the target of a failed distributed denial of service (DDoS) cyberattack.
The owner of the company, Viktor Prokopenya told the Sunday Times that a Russian hacker was behind the incident. According to the company, the security team took immediate action and had a strong cybersecurity system, therefore the DDoS attack was not successful, and customer’s private information or data was not damaged during the attacks.
2. Funky Pigeon suspends online orders temporarily after a cyberattack
Retailers have become increasingly attractive targets for cyber attackers since the significant transition to e-commerce during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Online greetings card and gifts provider Funky Pigeon, which is owned by WHSmith, has stopped taking any new orders from its website by taking the system offline as security measures after a cyberattack.
After experiencing the cyber-attacks, the company carried out an investigation to determine if the customer data was affected. They also informed that the customer’s sensitive payment data, including bank account or credit card details, has not been at risk.
3. Corvus Insurance reported Ransomware attacks recently decreased.
According to a recent report by Corvus Insurance, a leading provider of smart commercial insurance products powered by AI-powered risk data, spending on cybersecurity is expected to increase, although the cost and severity of cybercrime have been reduced.
Small businesses (less than 50 employees) do not have a cybersecurity budget and are more interested in keeping up to date on new threats, while large organizations are more interested in vendor breaches, highlighting the need for an internal security culture for many companies
