Cloudbric received a lot of questions about our web application security service, and in our mission to democratize cyber security, we try our best to make the information readily available. We post a lot of answers in our Help Center, but every week we will give a longer answer about one question. This week, a user asks…
Can Cloudbric Help With DDoS Attacks?
If your site is unprotected by a web application firewall (WAF) like Cloudbric, you are exposed to DDoS attackers. It’s as simple as that. No matter how many security tools you installed on your computer, your website is still up for grabs when it comes to hackers trying to either slow down or completely shut down your website. We previously talked about the nature of DDoS attacks and the ongoing cyber zombie apocalypse, but how does that apply to your website now? First, there are two types of DDoS attacks: those that attack your IP, and those that go after your URL. We’ll spare you the boring details and recommend watching how this video explaining how the two different DDoS attacks are related.
If you are protected by Cloudbric, we act as a shield to help filter out traffic and guard your IP address from intruders. Basically, your IP is the physical location of the website, and the URL is what human users remember to prompt a browser to look up your IP — so, more like the street address used to find a house. You wouldn’t want random strangers coming in and out of your home would you? Neither do we! Protect your online home from any botnet zombies that may potentially go after your site by installing Cloudbric’s continuous protection server. All bases covered!
That is why it’s vital to protect your site behind a firewall before an attack, rather than waiting until the zombies are at your door. We might be able to help an unprotected site under siege, but it comes down to whether the DDoS attack is going for your URL or the IP address. However, if you are unprotected and a DDoS attack hits, raising shields during the attack may not help or it may already be too late. This is why people need to be vigilant about taking care of business BEFORE danger strikes. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at email@example.com!
